Tom was raised in the Palo Alto, California area, and is a graduate of University California – Davis. He continued his education at UCLA’s medical school, and completed his medical residency at the University of Michigan. After working at the University of Kentucky’s Medical Center both in practice and in academia, he moved to Charlotte to enter clinical practice and later transitioned into healthcare executive roles. Throughout his career, he remained active in his community. Tom has served as a Board Member for Discovery Place, Community Building Initiative, MEDIC (Mecklenburg EMS Agency), Mecklenburg County Medical Society, and Opera Carolina. Having recently retired as Chief Medical Officer for Novant Health, Tom has used his newfound free time to actively enjoy his family and his many passions. Tom’s joys in life are his wife, Mary, their two children Joe and Katie, and his many friendships. His passions include being out and about in nature, travel, bird watching, wing shooting in season, and sporting clays. He began shooting NSCA registered targets in mid-February of this year. In early October, Tom punched into C Class by winning the Southeast Regional Pure Gold Cup event in his class, and placing well in other events. Never long a stranger to those he meets, Tom is quickly becoming a familiar face at Rocky Creek. Tom can often be found on the courses at Rocky Creek shooting sporting clays on Wednesday mornings, and weekends with his beloved Perazzi MX2000.
